Westerns With Doyle Brunson: Poker Legend Counts Down His All-Time Favorite Movies (Part 1)
And now for something completely different….
Doyle Brunson is a fountain of knowledge, stories, and experiences. Most interviews in the past featuring the 84-year-old legend have focused exclusively on poker and his life as a gambler.
However, when 5th Street Sports interviewed Doyle, we were determined to go beyond ordinary expectations. We were far more interested in discovering what really makes Doyle tick inside. Indeed, what are his greatest passions? What does he enjoy most, that is — when he’s not playing poker or wagering on sports?
The answer is clear: Doyle loves watching movie westerns.
Given his pedigree — born and raised in Texas, living in Nevada, with a summer home in Montana, while living the life of a modern-day wrangler — Doyle is something of an expert on this unique genre of American cinema.
5th Street Sports correspondent Nolan Dalla sat down at dinner with Doyle, recently. Together, they discussed the greatest movie westerns of all-time. Prior to this interview, which took place at Roma Deli in Las Vegas in May 2018, Doyle was asked to come up with a list of his “20 favorite westerns.”
Doyle couldn’t contain himself. He not only came up with 20 great westerns. He tripled our request and listed 60 favorites. Doyle probably could have listed 100 movies and talked about every single one of them. Most incredible, without any notes or references, Doyle remembered intricate details about each movie and shared with us why each film on his list meant something special.
Here is PART 1 of the series, which ranks Doyle’ favorite movie westerns — #31 through #60. The video clip runs about 20 minutes. CLICK LINK HERE
